I have downloaded several spectrum games but can't get any of them to play on Speccy V1.6. All I get is 'Failed loading file'. Is it something I'm missing?

If i go to "open file" and select a TZX file from the folder it returns to the mainscreen. I then press enter and it shows the Tape loader screen but nothing happens.

I can navigate through the other menus using the arrow keys but not the main screen one for some reason. Can anyone help me please?
See

http://fms.komkon.org/EmuSymbian/#Speccy

It explains how to load Spectrum tapes (.tap,.txz) on Symbian, but Maemo is no different.

To start the tape, either press the "Rewind tape" button in the main menu, or enable the "Tape running" option in the Configuration menu.

I have it all working in front of me - I dont bother with all that rewind tape nonsense

Get your games from Plaent Emu - put the files ( unzipped ) into a folder

Go into Speccy 1.7 and select the top of the screen where the options come up - just select Open File, find your folder where the games are in - and then highlight the game you want to load - that simple!

Well, yes, obviously if you're working with snapshot files then it's far simpler. The question asked was specifically about tape files though.

Yeah my mistake - meant to say dont bother with the tape images, the snapshots are far quicker and more accurate at loading

Did anyone ever figure out how to speed up the tape loading on the Maemo Speccy version? I tried all sorts but ended up using the PC version, then saving a snapshot and loading it in to the Maemo version that way - convoluted to say the least.

But they don't work for games that load levels incrementally.

According to the documentation, either Ctrl+SPACE (doesn't seem to work for me) or the unused screen corners (seems to work - just tap & hold) trigger fast-forward on Maemo.

I just use sna and z80 files and they load straight away

Which version are you all using??

[SOLVED]

This is on version 1.7

In the configuration menu choose:-

computer model and select zx spectrum 128kb

Then press enter on tape loader on speccy screen
(screen goes to a white screen with tape loader at the bottom in a black bar)

Then in main menu go to open file and select tape.

Go back into main menu and select option rewind tape and now it should load the tape the old fashioned way.

Enjoy
