hope im not wasting any ones time here but i know nothing of x terminal
never used a linux os ..
i see a lot of the applications and true potentials of the N900 can only be reached using xterm so does any one know of a place where i can learn the basic codes/working so i can try and understand what most of the posts are talking about

Just lookup "bash tutorials" which is very similar to ash (The language used in xterm on N900). I doubt it'll be useful though because most scripts on the forum usually just tweak some configuration files.

You might find what you want in the wiki to use xterminal: http://wiki.maemo.org/Terminal

It would also be a good idea to learn a bit about how Linux works if you want. There is a great tutorial there at IBM: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/li...pic1-v3-103-1/
