Through my testing of my two n800s connecting through google talk and carry out a video call when both devices are connected to my wi-fi connection in my house, works just fine. I then kept one at home and had the other one try to connect from the bread company (free wireless for patrons), and while I could see the person is online, and when establishing the call, the other n800 does ring it doesn't finish the connection. Both n800 have the latest firmware update and google talk works just fine when both devices are on the same network. Granted, I have only tested this in one place, but my question while the "call" comes in on a well known port, I would imagine that the call would then get established on another port. Could it be that the establishment blocks this other port, hence the call is initiated but never completed? I want to use these two devices to communicate with my daughter when she is in Austria/Switzerland next month and would like to be a bit more informed about what to look for and what to troubleshoot if she comes across this there.
I have this same problem with google talk. It rings and my friend answers, it then says 'connecting' until it times out. This used to work until i upgraded to the 2007 software on my n800. I haven't been able to fix it.
Turning upnp off on my router hasn't helped. Nokia have changed something between the two versions and i don't know what.
n800 with netgear adsl router and orange broadband.
Any ideas?
