i know its 12345 but it wont let me type it in

no thats the security code. the password or gain root is "chickennuggets" without the "s

Are you sure you not trying to gain root by typing?

sudo gainroot
If so, type this instead and hit enter

Does anyone know why this happens? When I first starting using the N900 it always asked for a password on "sudo gainroot" but it doesnt anymore

Removing the 'sudo gainroot' option from /etc/sudoers would prompt you for the password, not sure if that would cause any issues though.
