If you're trying to install from the Ovi store, this could happen.

Which app are you trying to install?

copy/paste the output from xterm here so we can see more details...

try using fast application manager , it's really faster than the default app manager .

the problem is that nokia crippled apt-get so you couldnt use it install stuff from ovi so you have to use the website (or guess the .install file) if want to you can reinstall apt-get but this time compile from source with a patch (search for mohamadAG ) post
P.S i like U only use apt-get

You can't install stuff from the Ovi store using this method - Nokia have 'fixed' it.

Two work-arounds that I know of:

oviinstall.sh: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=523

Or MohammedAG's replacement apt: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...5&postcount=19

What about aptitude? it was the only way I could install blue maemo, pamance and galaga.

Apt-get install aptitude

then use it like apt-get

ex aptitude install package name

Thanks guys, I will try with all options!
I thought of deleting the app manager with the command: apt-get autoremove apt, I do not know whether this is OK?
I tried to use the FAM, but I prefer xterm over!
I tried aptitude instairati but does not want to run it says error: Got SIGSEGV, dying ..
Segmentation fault!

I tried now over the aptitude (aptitude install app ... ...installs app but does not want to open a window aptitude when i type aptitude in xterm it says error, but what will then app manager?

ps: sorry for google translate :P

No, dont try to run aptitude

enter in xterm as root

"aptitude install tangram"

I was able to install tangram using the aptitude command above.
