Hi all

Attached is a modified transitions.ini with no fading/zooming/glow effects. It speeds up the UI a bit.

Download the attachment, rename it to "transitions.ini', then copy it to /usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini.

Reboot and you'll have snappy menus with less fuss.
Attached Files
File Type: txt transitions.ini.txt (5.6 KB, 361 views)

Thanks, I have done it, and it works brilliantly.
I hope it really speeds up the user interface, and decreases CPU load.

There's an application in the repos that can do it all for you, just incase you want to experiment.

I experiment continuously. What application do you mean?
Thank you in advance.

It's called transition control, as the names suggests it lets you modify the tranisitions.ini file with an easy to use GUI.

Sorry to revive and old post, but you can speed things up even more (and make your N900 get right to the point without all the eye-candy nonsense) by zeroing out the zoom values as well. This solved the biggest source of lag for me, which was switching back and forth between applications and the task switcher. Now it happens instantaneously and makes the phone feel a lot more responsive.

Code:
[task_nav]
zoom = 0
zoom_for_home = 0
zoom_duration = 0
fly_duration = 0
notifade_in = 0
notifade_out = 0

[home]
radius = 0
radius_more = 0
saturation = 1
brightness = 1
zoom = 0
zoom_applets = 0
