Reading other threads on this topic leads me to believe that Nokia fixed the rebooting issue with version 1.2, but I've since flashed (rootfs only) with 1.3, and am still experiencing random rebooting.

Is there an update to this, and do other still experience these problems?

I only flashed the rootfs, although I could flash the eMMC as well. Last time I tried that (with 1.2), the rebooting problem persisted.

Thanks.

I never had a rebooting problem even on 1.1

Have you installed any applications or tweaked anything after you've flashed with 1.3?

I'd be inclined to flash both the rootfs and emmc just to rule the latter out completely as a possible cause.

Hi dchky, thanks for the reply.

I seems as though the majority of n900 users have no issues, and I am one of the select few. Phone's only a couple months old, so maybe I should send it in for service.

The problem first began when I set-up foreca (the weather widget). It's been off and on (off now, it's stable, but it did restart once yesterday).

Flashed rootfs and eMMC to 1.2 about a month ago, was fine, but was still spotty (crashing maybe once every two to three days), until about a week ago, when it would die after doing just about anything.

I could live with the restarts, if it came back up properly - except once it starts crashing, it continues crashing over and over again... On some days, it deletes my entire contact list - that one's fun too

Flashed to rootfs to 1.3, did not help. Actually, bricked the phone after it restarted the 17 or so times it's programmed to,

Flashed rootfs with 1.3 again, and it seems a little better... no improvement though.

Might just flash emmc with it if it reboots again. Wouldn't hurt, anyway.

Off the top of my head... apps:
rootsh (or sudser, now, actually)
prboom
crazypark
ogg-support

Not too many.

There never was a general rebooting problem, so it will never be fixed. As was indicated, flashing thoroughly should fix anyone's reboot problem.

Edit: Flashing thoroughly means also flashing the Emmc, of course.

And don't do whatever you did to cause the problem again, of course.

Hi geneven,

Given that the CC list for the bug report regarding this issue contains 78 users, I'd say that's at least a noticeable minority with this problem.

As for not doing whatever it is that caused the reboot? You got it. No more phone calls, web surfing, checking my calendar, alarms, texts, IM's, and definitely no turning my phone on or off anymore. Each of those have caused my n900 to reboot.

Hi kareeser,

If you think it's related to this bug then I believe you can get better help by replying to that thread with logs.

Reading up you can find a couple of workaround, like disabling off mode. Also, if you've smartreflex on, either by altering pmconfig or by software package, your device might experience random reboot.

Also, in the thread you've provided also described the possibility of the corruption of your eMMC. Sometime flashing might not correction the corruption, you may follow up with the thread to get more help on this.

That's about everything I could think of. Hope this helps.
