I have something similar, but I need it for my Archos. FYI, mine doesn't work with my N800; whether that's because the Archos 3.5 mm jack isn't standard, or the N800's isn't compatible with it, I don't know.

Well I ordered it and it should be here in a day or to, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Some have tried piping N800 sound to home stereo using similar cables-- note that I haven't heard of any successes yet. I suspect impedance to be a factor.

I plug my nokia into my home theater and car stero for audio with a 3.5mm to rca cord similar to this and impedence is only an issue in the car when I am charging the nokia through the cig lighter adapter. This is easily remedied with a ground loop isolater found at your local radio shack:

No issues with charging and impedence at home. I have not tried anything with video, so I cannot speak for that side of these or similar cables.

Well I still didn't try with Noo8 (my N800 ) but connected several times the 770 to my Yamaha home theater amp and had no problems in hearing music from it (whether it was MP3 or streaming)

Do the N800 have any difference regarding this?

I hooked up my N800 to three different stereos/mixers via a standard 3.5mm stereo to cinch adapter. The result was all the same: the signal level is very low even with N800's controls at the upper limit, and it sounds muddy when I crank the volume all up on the stereo.

Does the N800 need to use a 3-pole adapter?

No, the 3-pole is for headphone+microphone. You can use a normal plug when you only want the headphone signal (put push it all the way in).
