The idea is to adjust the font size, icons, etc when you activate this mode. If we use a large external screen to work ... the desktop, applications, etc. are too large. It would be useful to enter a mode that allows you easily adjust the size to allow the elements to shrink and we can take advantage of the larger external screen.

I guess it's hard but it helps to use a computer more convenient to use. The N900 has already demonstrated its potential as a netbook and this application would help, in my opinion, to improve that experience.

Would be useful for displacement of the launcher works with the mouse wheel or had a system for launching applications more comfortable using the keyboard.

Hi, nice idea but this is largely limited by the video out for the N900. This is through composite which limits the output resolution. You can send 720x576 over PAL, not sure about NTSC. This means that making text/icons smaller will make them harder to read.

What about using the USB-host mode feature?

You could plug your N900 into a externally powered hub, which has an USB to VGA adapter, USB speakers, and keyboard and mouse attached.

This of course requires some experts to compile kernel modules for the external display and speakers. Keyboard and mouse works perfectly!
