Hi,
Since yesterday, when I try to launch an App in protrait mode, or when someone call me (and the phone app is launched in portrait mode), the screen become unreadable and flickering (I'll try to post a photo this evening).

When the bug occurs, dmesg is flooded with
Code:
omapdss DISPC error: GFX_FIFO_UNDERFLOW
omapdss DISPC error: GFX_FIFO_UNDERFLOW
omapdss DISPC error: GFX_FIFO_UNDERFLOW
Here is what happen when I come back in landscape mode:
Code:
kb_lock (GPIO 113) is now closed
kb_lock (GPIO 113) is now open
HWRecoveryResetSGX: SGX Hardware Recovery triggered
HWRecoveryResetSGX: SGX Hardware Recovery triggered
HWRecoveryResetSGX: SGX Hardware Recovery triggered
kb_lock (GPIO 113) is now closed
HWRecoveryResetSGX: SGX Hardware Recovery triggered
kb_lock (GPIO 113) is now open
Graphics intensive application like angry birds, brain party, OpenTTD are working well.

As a short term workaround, is there a way to disable portrait mode ?

Any hint about the issue ?

There are definitely at least two bug reports about SGX Hardware Recovery triggered in bugs.maemo.org already.

Yes, and it's said that there may be some fixes in PR 1.2.

But none of them seems to be related to portrait mode or "omapdss DISPC error: GFX_FIFO_UNDERFLOW".

I'll try to reflash my device. If the issue isn't fixed with vanilla version, I'll probably file a bug report.

Anyway, do you know a way to *always* run *all* apps in landscape mode ?

Thanks

I flashed my device an the problem seems to be gone.
This is strange, I'll try to install the same apps I installed before and see if it's related, but it shouldn't as I never installed kernel related stuff.

I just wanted to mention that power cycling was all it took to solve this problem for me. It started for me after a reboot this morning. I've been running PR1.2 and the power kernel (for IPv6 not for overclocking) for some months. But after the reboot the display would frequenly just freeze for a couple seconds for no apparent reason. This didn't have anything to do with portrait mode. dmesg showed many of the following messages,

Code:
HWRecoveryResetSGX: SGX Hardware Recovery triggered
I powered off (removed batter even), powered up and it was fine. It was like the (run `reboot` as root) reboot without a power cycle, left the graphics in a bad, but working state.

Best way to remove this bug is to reflash your device.
