hey so when i got my n900, i used its battery that came in the box for the first time. it got low and i put another spare battery that i had. and its been months. my spare battery doesnt give me much usage as its quite old so i decided to put in the battery that i hadn't used for months. i put it in. kept on charge for like 8 hours and the green light didnt come. the orange light was blinking like normal. so i took the charger off and used the phone and it worked for like 20 minutes after 8 hours of a full night charge. is this normal if a battery is not used for a long time? i am charging it right now and its been an hour and its charging. so how long will i get this problem? when will the battery get normal? oh and both the times that i charged this battery, when its off and i put it on charge, when i connected usb charger, it blinked a red light once on start then i took of battery and switched on phone etc and orange light came on. both the times. now its charging with the pulse yellow light

Lithium Ion (and polymer) batteries only have a decent life span of about a year, after this the performance drops off. It's a chemical thing, it happens whether you use them or not. Eventually your good battery will also fail.

I'm not sure about where you live, but original Nokia replacement batteries are about $10 to $15 (USD) here in Asia for the N900 - I don't personally lose sleep over it :-)
