Hello

Heres a list of what I've got installed on my phone. Phone has the latest Nokia firmware done through the SSU method using OVI Suite (DON'T WORRY IT WAS A SUCCESSFUL UPDATE).

So I installed flashlight & lzma thinking I could then find dr_frost_dk battery meter 1.6 but it was not listed in the standard app manager or the new faster application manager.

So I tried browsing the thread on N900 & clicking "Install" link to download battery meter 1.6 but it downloaded to the documents folder & is listed with a icon ? 15 kB?

So heres a list of what's installed in my phone.

Old Firm: 2.2009.51-1

New Firm: 20.2010.36-2

Faster Application manager

I've apparently got 64 packages installed.

The apps install but are only listed in the uninstall manager other than that there is no app shortcut or widget or any way to open the apps. Thanks

It's a bit hard to work out the problem - is it that you downloaded the zip file for the battery meter script from here? http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=872446&postcount=3

And now you have a zip file stored on your phone and you're wondering how to install it?

If so, it's a script for http://wiki.maemo.org/Queen_BeeCon_Widget .

But if you just want to keep an eye on what you're battery is doing, there's a couple of much easier to install apps in the repositores - eg battery-eye, battery graph.

...or have I completely misunderstood your question?

edit: by the way, are you into low level disk access hacking etc? should we be talking in assembler?!

Hi. Yes thats exactly right.. i clicked on zip file, downloaded it to hte phone & tried to run it. Because i cound't find dr_frost_dk battery meter on any app manager i have? I was looking for a battery meter for n900 which is accurate, are others accurate like dr_frosts?

Also why wouldn't flashlight work? I downloaded this from the standard app manager. say are all my repos ok or do i need new app catalogues to find the latest.

Also i have swappolube version 1.0-1 installed but know there is a newer version. Why can't i seem to get the latest versions of apps. This is one example? With swappolube i used the proposed settings & rebooted only difference iss the desktop swipes tiny bit smoother. Theirs still tiny lag

Well, like dr_frost told you in that thread, it's a script for QBW (Queen Beecon).,,,

Please just install "battery-eye" or "battery graph".

LZMA is a type of compression - like Zip, RAR etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lempel–...hain_algorithm.

EDIT:
Oh, and you went back and added more stuff to a previous post..!!
Flashlight - explain more about it "doesn't work"
Swapolube - what version are you expecting?

I thought so. I guesse I'll just have to make do. As long as the battery meter is more accurate than the maemo5 default it will do me!

How about flashlight & swappolube Jedi. Might you have any ideas why flashlight wouldn't work & why i could only install ver 1.0-1 swappolube?

Flashlight like torch app which uses keeps the LEDs lit was listed in the downloads application manager.

ta

thanks jedi

Hello Jedi. Turned out Flaslight was installed properly. Discovered through the flashlight description that it appears in the status bar when you slide open the lens cover. Reading the instructions in this case really does help. Wonder where the sensor is?

I'm finding out new things all the time. I do have loads of other questions for you. If you aren't comfortable in helping me with these other questions, just tell me then I'll start them in a new thread. But what's the point in wasting server space?

Where does maemo tell you how much Hard Disk space apps are accomodating?

Where does maemo tell you how much RAM is being used by the apps & widgets which are running?

Swappolube is using default proposed settings. I have so many widgets & apps on the desktop running, it runs with slight lag, are there any custom settings to speed things up more?

OFF TOPIC: I found some packages which maemo tells me are damaged & they are currently listed on the faster app manager standard repos. They are Pypianobar & Moobox. I'd like to find a new place to download them where they aren't broken?

I need some help with the X-terminal to write long command line to get apps or do other operations. Also because I have installed the Mplayer which is command line version can't get hold of GUI version. I want to learn linux & I need to start somewhere.

What does ROOTSH mean? I have this installed

What does BASH mean?

What is the default name for the c:\ prompt in linux.

What does Sudo mean?

First, change your name to 14MN071337

Now, Rootsh is a package that gives you root access, ie admin, but a bit cooler.

Bash is a command interpreter, I heard Windows has a laughable clone called powercmdbasic or something. You use a terminal emulator (xterm is available on the n900) to put code in.

The C:\ prompt? lolwut. We have xterm to enter commands. The C:\ is just your working directory.

Sudo is a horrible way of executing commands as root. Real men are always root.
