A quick question to someone who knows what they're talking about. If for arguments sake meego n9 isn't on the horizon, would it be possible to choose a hardware platform such as the e7 and port maemo5. This would give us better hardware, separate charging port, usb port that isn't made of cheese etc. And with alien dalvik hopefully on it's way would make for an awesome device. It would certainly be an improvement on shitbian 3. Reason I ask is I'm seeing alot more 'broken usb' posts (me included) and the supply of n900s has to run out at some point.

The main problem with ports will always be proprietary drivers or rather lack thereof.

what if a very unhappy nokia employee decides to give us those drivers? would it be useful?

This is looking like a nice option (if feasible) now that Nokia are dragging their feet massively wrt n950 
(some folk are even speculating Q4 now)
Particularly if the rumors are true, and the one Meego phone they release won't be qwerty.
