Hi,
Just got my N900 a week or so ago and I've been loving it, however it has a rather annoying issue. It was fine for 2 days, and now I have no phone signal whatsoever. There is a faint outline of where the signal bars should be, it knows there's a sim card and I can search for operator networks but not connect to any of them.
This guy seems to have the same problem as me: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=36490
except that changing the network settings has done nothing for me.
So far I have reflashed the system (only the system, not eMMC but from what i've read that won't affect it) with the latest firmware, which also fixed another problem I had; after installing blessn900 and fcam my camera stopped working altogether & crashed with an operation failed error. I'm now running PR1.2 and a vanilla kernel; I've avoided kernel-power so far worrying it may worsen/cause the issue. I did have it installed before the reflash so I have a hunch the problems may be related to kernel bodging in some manner.
I also tried getting a new sim card. My new (and old) sim works fine in my old spare phone, an N73. It is also not a carrier band issue as it DID work for a short time; I made calls and texts and used data on it before it stopped connecting.
Basically, I've been searching high and low and can't find any solution that works for me. This is a fantastic phone but it's not much more than a fancy ipod unless I have a working cellular connection. So where should I go from here?
