Normally, as i think, softwares are to do specific tasks and everybody says that Android is better than Maemo because we can have a bigger software catalog but that everybody wants is to choose only one and this software may satisfy my needs.
I already have a Nokia N95 and naturally, when i will use another operating system, I will search for softwares that we already use and i will find softwares that do the same things and others that we can't do with old smartphones.
And now, i use softwares in these categories:

Linux x86 - Pidgin, Empathy
Android - Nimbuzz, Fring
Internet Browsers (Finger Friendly)

Linux x86: Opera, Firefox (but is not finger friendly).
