It's only an idea, I'm not a coder so I don't know if it's possible or not...

How about an usb dumper? A Windows/Linux/Mac program capable of create VANILLA and COMBINED image form a N900 connected by USB.

There isn't really any point in creating an application like this for a few reasons - I guess the primarily one is simply because we already have access to the full firmware from Nokia, the other being that it's already possible anyway, though not really in a format that you can 'flash' back to the n900.

If you are talking about making a snapshot of your N900 for restoration, you can already do that using backupmenu.

If you just want to create a dump from the N900 you can do that too using bootmenu or one of a handful of others that allow you to mount drives over USB on boot, after that you can create exact images of all the drives and partitions using dd. (You can also copy these back to the N900 as well)
