How would i do that?

Sometimes i'm outside, i can only get the ascii version of a wep key and i can't key it into the N800.

Does anyone have a program (commandline will be fine) which can convert a wep key from ascii to hex?

I just chose the proper keylength and typed my ascii key right into both the N800 and 770 with no problem!

Yep, if you chose a 40-bit key lenght, for example (or 64, I don't remember which is used in the N800 but the two are the same - one counts the 24-bit header and the other method don't), then you can enter a 10-character ascii string _or_ the hex key.

actually, i meant to ask how do i enter the passphrase, not the ascii wep key.

as far as i know, it is only possible to enter the hex and ascii (as you guys have pointed out) key. However, most of the time, i only get a passphrase when i'm outside so i need a program to convert it to a hex key for me.

I've found WEPKey.com to be very useful for this sort of thing.

However, an online site isn't very useful when you aren't online. It's entirely in javascript though so one would think you could just save the page for offline browsing.

I tried. It doesn't work, probably because the page quits loading when it hits a bunch of dynamic advertisements. So here's what I did: I stripped all the advertisements out. Shameful! If you use this, visit Wepkey.com and give the guy a few bucks.
