Hello

I used my N900 whit Maemo 5 10.2010.19-1 in egypt whit an egyptian SIM Card. Since that time (i think so at least) the N900 dosn't find any satelites any more. But it is searching for them. Can it be that it didn't enabeld the GPS Module properly after I left egypt (by the egypt law, mobiles have to turn of GPS if a egypt GSM network is in reach)?

Thanks for any help!

By my experience the GPS module in the N900 can just stop working, nothing to do about it. (tried reflash)

GPS information icon will say "coarse accuracy" comment and only limited position information based on GSM network (not GPS) will be experienced.

Is that the case?

Thanks for your Answer!
It just writes "searching" for to long time. But now i tryed whit different programs and it looks like it only don't work whit GPXView and the chat status update. It works whit MaemoMapper. I was believing this is for all the same, but maybe MaemoMapper does some special tricks...

I suggest to go in a really open place, where there are no buildings, like a giant garden, and try to do a GPS positioning there. 1 year I never got to do a GPS location, and I thought that it's defective, until I managed to get in a open place and locked all the satellites.
BTW, you can install GPS Jinni and see how many satellites it finds.

Check your GPS settings: which location server is entered? - It should be supl.nokia.com. Also supl.google.com should work.

Without AGPS it could take up to 12 min to get a GPS fix. That is not related to N900 but to that how often the GPS satellites send information to get a fix...
