I am using a n900 with Maemo 5, and I am attempting to install kernel power v47. However, I cannot seem to install anything above v42, even with extras-testing enabled.

My steps so far;
  • apt-get install kernel-power-settings
  • reboot
  • uname -r shows a v42 kernel
  • Enabled extras-testing via the wiki's information and refreshed my catalogs.
  • After refreshing I was offered some non-kernel related upgrades, suggesting (to me) the repository is working.
  • reboot
  • uname -r still shows a v42 kernel
  • apt-get install --reinstall -y kernel-power kernel-power-flasher
  • reboot
  • uname -r still shows a v42 kernel

I then spent the next bit searching the wiki and google to try to explain why I cannot get the new kernel to load from extras-testing. I am out of ideas. Please point out my obvious mistake so I can fix it and move on with this project.

Thanks,
BN

tried enabling extra's devel, or installing it from the application manager / FAM?
