It is probably a bug in the new sip client. Report the bug in bugzilla and uninstall the SIP client since it is beta software.

Haven't had that problem on the N800, but on the Linux desktop I had something similar with a Skype upgrade. You could try this:
- Start xterm
- Enter: mv .Skype .Skype.old
(Note spelling: ".Skype" with a starting ".")
- Try starting Skype. You will have to enter your account and password again.

Thanks for your replys,i was trying to fix this last night and came across some files i installed. then remembered , i installe the new mozzila web plug in. (mebo package, i thInk) and was in redpill mode when i updated packages in app manager. im completely new at this so im just trying to think of every thing i've done up untill this point. i apologise if i excluded this info in my original post. now im positive this is all that i've done since skype breaking. so am i on the right path? could this have caused this to happen?
p.s the x term comands suggested did nothing.

Congrats. You just discovered why end users should not be using red pill mode. You updated a library or program that Skype depends upon, therefore breaking it.

Reflash and reinstall.

(IMO red pill mode should only be used if one is familiar with the debian package system and the use of dpkg and apt-get command line tools, and how to force-downgrade, how to fix dependency problems manually and so on. Even though I am very familiar with these concepts I haven't had my N800 in red pill mode at all (except once, for a test). There's just no need to, IMO.)
