When I go on application manager, all my catalouges have disappeared and it says “operation failed”. When I go on update it says I have no catalogues and I can’t add new ones. When I go in download, it says the same and when I go on uninstall- it says I have no applications, when I do have applications.

When I go on the log I get this information-

hildon-application-manager 2.2.72
apt-worker: too weak to get lock from 1697.
apt-worker closed connection.
apt-worker exited.

Where I could have gone wrong-

Firstly I wanted to install "enhanced-wallpaper" which was from the devel. So I activated the devel and installed the app- everything was fine.

I then wanted to install fmobi (facebook application) for n900 (I don’t know what repository this is from as I downloaded it from the site - (http://jiikoo.com/fMobi/ )).

On the site I was told to first download and install three things so that fmobi ran smoothly of which two had to be downloaded from the xterminal method (apt-get) these were:

1. qt Mobility 1.1 (apt-get install libqtm-11)
2. Qt Quick compatibility (apt-get install qtquickcompat)
3. Qt hot fixes

So I installed rootsh, done "sudo gainroot" command and installed these files. Finally, i installed the fmobi app which works more or less fine from what I can see.
Soon after, I tried to access the application manager leaving me with the errors I mentioned at the start.

I hope I left enough information and not too much lol but can someone please help/advise me what I can do to get it working. And if there is similar threads, Sorry this is my first post to maemo.

Thank you

Make sure you have the following content of
Code:
sudo gainroot
cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list
You might have or have not the last three lines in this file, does not matter.

Open HAM and add any one repository and save it, after the refresh of the information close HAM, Wait a couple of minutes. Are your repositories complete, when you restart HAM then?

I typed in the command and then went on application manager. All the catalogues were there. I checked the log and got this information:

hildon-application-manager 2.2.72
connected to 3bde2919-84b8-4e57-b844-62a1f8d8e911
W: Conflicting distribution: http://repository.maemo.org fremantle-1.3 Release (expected fremantle-1.3 but got )
W: GPG error: https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com ./ Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY ADB4438160A655EF

I then closed the manager and when i opened it, the same problem occured again- everything was gone.

Those 'W:' lines are just warnings, that do not trigger the error you are facing. Still you might want to get rid of them: The GPG error: There is some OVI repository fremantle-1.2 which is useless in PR1.3, so disable it. For the conflicting distribution error you might look at the extras repository.

The links are no links but the repository server addresses, but the forum software make automatically links from it.

None of this all is crucial for HAM.
Did you try a reboot?

I havnt tried rebooting.
i dont really know how to as i am new to this.
Do you kno by any chance what the problem is.

When i type that command you told me to, all the repositories came back, but if i exit HAM they will go.

On the log it says:

hildon-application-manager 2.2.72
apt-worker: to weak to get lock from 3881.
apt-worker closed connection.
apt-worker is not running
apt-worker excited.

There are quite some threads about HAM failure and vanishing repo settings.
Well, never met anybody, who liked HAM...
That is why some fine application like FasterApplicationManager exist, it is so much better, even pure apt-get is better than HAM. You only neeed it for the .install scripts and the OVI stuff.
