My N900 has been running with a 100% cpu for the past couple of days for some reason. I've been using htop to close the process called hildon-i-input-method, but it keeps coming back and drains the battery in a few hours. It also prevents me from using the symbols when typing. I'm leaving on a 1 week camp and i really need my phone to be working properly because i'm gonna be a superviser.
Could you please help me find the cause and fix the problem..

thanks in advance

*edit* I noticed it starts everytime I use the keyboard.

And its always "usr/bin/hildon-input-method"

hi, do you have the last firmware? have you installed any of those custom virtual keyboard apps?
you allways have the reflash option before going to the camp.

Firmware 3.2010.02-8.002. I don't have any virtual keyboard apps.
Can I reflash with nokia software updater? (With windows 7)

did you install anything lately?

If so, try uninstalling it and see if this helps.

I suggest you uninstall everything (or in stages until the usage stops) and see how it goes

Thats what makes this weird, I haven't installed anything in weeks.

I typed top in terminal and saw this : 96.6%CPU /usr/bin/hildon-input-method

So there's no solution to this problem?

sounds like a re-flash is the solution. As suggested above.

I donīt know how to help you. If you decide to reflash, please post how it went and if it solved your problem.

I'm gonna wait for the next software update for now, I'll have to shut down that bug manually each time I use sms. I don't have time to wait for a 1 month warranty in case something goes wrong.

Still nothing out, just when I need it! Has anyone found a solution yet? Trying to use symbols is a horror right now
