Hi everyone,

I'm just curious if N9 apps are runnable on maemo or vice-versa. Have anyone tried to install N9 apps on Maemo? Or Is it possible to run Maemo apps on N9? I know some debian packages based on ARM would work, but I'm curious about the application capability between N9 and N900 and how they are capable each other.

Most Maemo apps don't install on the N9 without being modified due to the fact that the N9 does not have the Hildon desktop.

The hildon library files supply the default GUI for many Maemo apps.

QT apps are better, but missing dependencies are common.

Wasn't the MeeGo project suposed to create a Hildon/GTK+ to MeeGo compatibility library? It's still in MeeGo's Wikipedia page, what happened to that?

These are the kinds of errors when you try to install a Maemo app on Harmattan (tried to install Opera Mobile 11.5 Maemo in my N9): http://pastebin.com/88SBAgah

Many N9 software can be run on the N900 on Nemo OS.

The N9 use KDE, which comes with another command shell.
It is usually fully possible to install KDE on Debian, then change make the "Harmattan" window manager.
90% of the code on the N9 is available on the N900. Had it been up to me, I would leave the KDE to the advance users, and develop a real extension of Hildon, not just another variant. E.g. allow the user to touch two points at a time to pull points away. There is also a pile of possible improvement in "transations", e.g. fad-out or "flip around" a cube. We have 4 screen now, a dice has 6 sides: Place phone on 1 and Contacts on 6, Conversations on 3 and email on 4 - then scroll around a virtual dice. Do not mimick others, allow people to improve!

No, there's absolutely no KDE on the N9. The N9 uses Qt, but you must not confuse Qt with KDE, just because KDE is built on Qt as well.

This is something I'm interested in. Is there any wiki or post about apps that run well on N900 with Nemo?

There are some videos floating around showing Harmattan stuff on the N900 running Nemo.

I suppose as long as the application is MeeGo compliant and not using Harmattan specific API, it should work. The Nemo wiki tells you to use the Harmattan target in Qt Creator for developing for Nemo.

I managed to run Kaboom trial on N900 + latest testing cssu.

I needed to force-all in dpkg, but there are no "missing libs" or so errors

I ran /opt/kaboomtrial/bin/kaboomtrial.
Screenshots attached.

Other missing libs for other apps would be applauncher (meedocs) and libqtfeedback1 (jellywars-full)
