I'm in a need of an application that would allow remote use of video camera of N9. There seems to be no application yet for this purpose so I started to figure out possible solutions. One idea is to open the stock camera, do the needed settings (quality, WB, exp compensation) and then start and stop the recording with an external bluetooth trigger. You who know the limitations, would this be possible to achieve some way? Or is it even possible to interact the functions of stock camera from 'outside'?

I have a mini BT keyboard which pairs well and seems to work fine with all text related applications. Would it be possible to make an application that listens the keyboard envents and toggles the recording on and off if some certain caracter is pushed?

This would be a nice lesson in programming, do not know where to start from. I've installed Qt 4.7 SDK but it seems to give segmentation fault errors even with the most simplest test codes :-(

Just use google and you'll find that there is such an app already:

Thanks for suggestion but SmartCam is not a solution. It's aimed for totally different purpose and does not have the features I'm looking for. To name a few problems, the recording environment does not allow use of PC and SmartCam does not support HD resolution which is a must.

The idea is not to use the phone as webcam but as a normal video recorder, saving the video footage into phone's memory. Only remote toggling of record on/off is needed.

Any other ideas?
