Hello all,

I got my N9 since March and I've done my fair share of modding and flashing on it since. The phone was fine & dandy until the camera fail to boot up a few days ago. After I flashed the device again, not only did the camera app still fails to load, it introduced new issues such as the same tweet being displayed least twice on the notification screen, and then home screen will not save my icons whenever I tried to rearrange them and restart the device. I've detailed each problem and what I did below:

Camera not responding

I keep getting "camera not responding or restart the device" message below.

Here's what I've done:

Notification Screen showing the same tweet twice!
  • I've tried removing the twitter cache from /home/user/.cache/data/twitter/twcache*
  • Here are some screen shots of my notification screen with the tweets displaying more than once

Home screen not saving icon arrangement upon restart

Whenever I restart the device, all the arrangement of my icons goes back to the default order. I honestly have no idea how to fix this. The problem still persist after reflashing. :/

Please help!
I could seriously use the help from the community as I really love the N9. As the N9 is my only phone at the moment, the past few days has been a truly infuriating experience as I can't take any pictures with my device, plus the I can't get to customize my icons.

Again, I've reflashed the device multiple times after all these problem were introduced, the the problems still persisted. I'm utterly out of ideas. I can't take it to the US Nokia as this is a North European variant. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. My device is RM-696 NDT NORTH EUROPE WHITE 64GB 059M5R3 running on PR1.3

Thanks a bunch!

So you mean you have done full flash (rootfs+emmc) a few times and the issue still persists?

I've mainly reflashed the main.bin with the following command:

Code:
flasher -f -F main.bin
I'm actually not sure which emmc.bin my device take so I've never flashed with an emmc.bin

Feel free to suggest which commands and files I should flash with. Thx!

Backup whatever data is required from your phone to your PC as a full flash will restore your phone to stock...

059M5R3:

rootfs.bin

emmc.bin

you can flash as follows:

Code:
flasher -f -F rootfs.bin -F emmc.bin -R

Note: rootfs.bin above is the same as what you refer to as main.bin

Thx a bunch! I'll report back here after the reflash! Hope this works!

Do you mean the output from the command prompt after I run the flash command correct? If not, where can I retrieve the correct output?

Awesome!!! The full reflash did the trick!! My Unicorn N9 is alive once again!!! Mwahhahahha!!

It even feels snappier than before. Thanks guys!!

The flashing guide described the emmc.bin file was just for regional content. Which sounded like it has nothing to do with the operating system. I didn't know including the emmc.bin file would make such a difference XD

Hopefully somebody can elaborate on the emmc.bin file a bit.

Anywayz, here's the output for the reflash for those interested:

emmc.bin is indeed for regional content only but if you have a serious issue and a rootfs flash is not helping it could be there is some content stored on your MyDocs partition that is causing an issue...

A full flash solves it...

Actually I would have preferred a re-installation of some packages to try to get to the bottom of it but since you already had re-flashed rootfs.bin so many times it was better to do one reflash and fix it
