Hi everyone! It has been just one year since i got my N9 in December 2011, and i'm lovin' it like i never loved it before. It's just an amazing concept of phone, beautiful in hardware and software!
But there's one thing, just one thing that does not allow this piece of art to be perfect, and that is, as you may know, the scheduled death of the Meego OS by Nokia. This point in particular worries me a lot, so i decided to become a developer to help this phone survive a least a little bit more, by joining and helping in this amazing community.

A couple of years ago i decided myself to learn my first solid programming language, after gaining some VB experience in college. I've chosen C++ to be my start point, so i bought the "C++ Primer Plus" by Stephen Prata in Amazon, and started learning from it.
As you can see, now i'm firmly established into C++, so i ask you not to tell me to switch to another language because i put so much effort and time on it and i'm not feeling like changing ways now
Right know i'm in the primary phase of learning, just taking the basics like data dealing and compound types, so there's a lot of book reading and learning remaining.

So, now the core of this thread:

The thing is, i'm a bit unsure of what's my knowledge going to be once i finish the book. So here are some points i look forward you to answer me:

What's the next step after the C++ book to get into Harmattan QT developing? I mean, at the moment i don't even have a clue of how to code a Harmattan window or a button by just knowing the C++ basics

How many time do you think is going to take me to succesfully make a simple app after finishing my book? Is my phone battery going to die before i get any success?

So, let me hear what you think about this, hopefully i'll be joining the development community soon

Greetings from Argentina!

ADMINS: I've choosen this forum section because i've seen a couple of these types of threads, so i didn't wanted to bother by adding my specific questions. If you feel like it worth it, plese move it to a more relevant section. Thanks a lot!
