Long story short, I will try. A series of trial and error involving my application manager not being able to install (or uninstall) anything has led me to a problem. Application manager is not my current problem. My problem is something I tried in my stress and curiosity after trying to get my phone to do as I wish...
I followed the steps in the website
http://mynokiablog.com/2010/01/05/fi...error-on-n900/
which led to
"6. Type
mkdir opt"
This step was useless. I already had an opt directory.
So in a wisp of hoping my phone would magically refresh everything and maybe restart, i proceeded to root myself in and delete my opt directory.
Its almost bricked... most icons wont show. I cant run any process anymore or select most options after it starts up or it crashes.

cd /home (not sure if this part’s necessary, I don’t understand this all, but this is how I got it to work)
