My 770 has stopped charging. It occasionally comes up with the word "charging" in the top-right corner but the icon doesn't change and it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. Was plugged in all last night and I was wondering why it was waking me up every few hours with its dee-duh-dee.

Anyone else have this problem? Have tried a second battery and no difference.

I guess step one will be to try to locate a spare charger to see if it's the charger or the 770, but I strongly suspect the 770!

A defective charger would be most likely the cause of your problem. It was for me,
when I experienced this (both times for my 770 and N80)
ended up buying a new one (AC-4E). Both chargers showed the same
fault, the wiring broke near the charger, the strain relief (the bendy bit)
doesn't do its job properly. You should be able to buy one for less than
15 Euros (~ $20 atm?). If you have any soldering skills and time to spare you might be able to fix it also.

Bump!

So my N800 just started exhibiting the problem of not continuing to charge as described. The charging message will come up briefly but then disappear with no signs of charging in the battery icon. If I plug in the charger and put a book on the wire to hold it in place it will keep charging.

I also charge an E65 so I have two chargers. Both chargers show the same problem while charging the E65 fine so I opine it is not the charger but the charging port on the N800.

Anyone else seen this problem? Anyone had to get in there and resolder their charging port? If so, any pointers?
