hello, i heard a lot about striping swap via memory card for performance increase.
now if you open battery cover, sd card is ejected automatically.
what happens if i use striping function and take out the memory card when phone is still on?any known issues?

The Micro SD card should NOT be ejected when removing the cover.
Are you sure you have placed it in the proper way?

You are talking about unmounting, not physically removing the microSD?
Removing the back cover will not unmount the microSD automatically.

I have my swap file on microSD, no impact on removing the back cover itself.

And losing swap is not the worst thing that can happen to your system.

The SD card IS ejected when you remove the phone's back cover.

In XTerm type then remove the back cover

You are completly right, the microSD card does gets unmounted.

I got a reboot when I removed the back cover (with swap file on microSD). Another thing learned today, thanx JohnWW

I learnt this, like you, by putting the swap file on the SD card, I also found that the card was not making the best connections to the phone and sometimes after knocking the phone the SD card would have to reconnect, this was enough to loose the swap file and the phone would reboot, so now I leave the swap file on the emmc instead.

john, u sound like u know ur territory.
can i strip my swap via sd card and still easily remove it with running system to put data with a pc on it,eg?
or would you advice me not to strip if i want to maintain the capability of removing the card?
thx in advance

I followed others when everyone was experimenting with their swap files.
My experience was that I that I did not notice any improvements with the swap file on the SD card, I also tried using a script written by vi_, which I modified, to play around with moving the swap file from the eMMC to the SD card and back, the idea was to clean up the swap file and the system would perform better. I didn't notice any appreciable improvements and the system rebooted when the swap file was on the SD card, so I have given up.

Have a look at vi_'s script, you could probably re-write it to move the swap file back to the eMMC, remove the card/put your data on it then move the swap file back.
Then again with the swap file on the SD card just try plugging in the USB cable and select Mass storage mode or PC Suite mode and see what happens.

alright, i understand that i loose hot swap capabilities when using this method.
furthermore i understand that it does not really boost performance, at least not notably. i think i will leave it for now.
