Hi Everyone,

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I did a search and came up empty. What I want to do is keep the screen lit up when playing back videos or music or even showing a slideshow of pictures. I don't want it to go to standby mode either.

Of course I don't have the power plugged in so I can't use the option of staying lit while it's charging. I want to us it while I'm out and about.

If anyone knows, please share your secret.

Thanks,

Does anybody know of a way or are we doomed to have a dimming and then off screen no matter what? I don't want to keep touching the screen every few minutes especially when I'm driving.

Thanks,

"settings"-->'Control Panel"-->"Display"-->"Display stays lit: When charging"

Hope thats helps

Thanks El Amir, but I do not have a car charger yet. I was wanting to use it perhaps out in the park or at the beach (or backyard) watching videos or movies.

I just want to have the backlight stay on for a period of time longer than 5 minutes.

Thanks

Technically, if there is even a small 5v on the charging port, you can have it stay lit even if it isn't really charging (I've noticed heavy CPU + bright screen + GPS will drain the battery on some chargers).

I've even done a perpetual motion machine verison - you can use a host-mode cable, and a USB to Nokia charger adapter and it will appear to charge itself.

My screen says lit during a slideshow on the built-in images app.

I bought one of those 75 watt inverters which plugs into a cigar lighter in the car. The little charger that comes with the unit plugged into that will charge/keep the screen lit while using MaemoMapper in the car.

It was cheaper than a Nokia cigar charger; 14.95 at Walmart.
