Has anyone found a way to trick the N800 to work on the extended/non-US WiFi channels 12-13 (and 14)?

In previous threads, it was discussed that the hardware of the US vs. EU N800´s should be the same and the thought was raised that the restriction could be via the MAC address or locale setting....

I run an N800 US model on OS2008 in Europe and would like to be able to connect with all of the available networks here.
