Not the resolution of the screen. I know that. :-)

I mean the resolution of the available main window, excluding the top and left side bars?

I'm thinking it's somewhere around 750x335 ish or so???

So, not in full screen, what resolution should I set SDL to in order to run a program inside the main window?

Thanx,

desiv

p.s. I have a 770 - 2006OS. Is it different with different OSes?
(i.e. Are the top and side bars the same resolution in 2006,2007,2008)

* Task Navigator area on the left is 80 pixels wide
* Statusbar/titlebar area is 720x60 pixels
* Application area of 672x396 pixels is in the middle

I think the resolutions are the same on all devices. Also if you use the hildon and gtk programming conventions your application will fill the whole desktop application area automatically. If you wish it does not do that then I suggest you read the tutorials because I'm not so sure what you should do in that case.

Thanx,

I'm porting an existing app and it has dimensions hardcoded.
I figured I'd try to get it working and fitting before I started down the Hildon path.

I'm pretty new, and I'm trying to take this one step at a time.

No problem

In that case you may wish to look at the porting guide:

Thanx, will do.

I think I've got it about where I like it now, so it's time to start looking at Hildonizing it.
It's not big secret, and it's already been done, rather nicely. I'm just working on lbreakout right now. So, why pick something that's been done?
Well, I didn't search first.

However, that being said, it compiled cleanly and ran the first time, so it seems like a good entry level choice.
Also, the other version in the garage is only full screen. I like small games that don't have to be full screen. My version now allows you to toggle. Although only while in the game, not in the menus, but I'll work on that. Possibly removing most of the in-game menus and replacing them with hildon pull-down options.

Should be a fun learning project.

I'm also targeting OS2006 right now. I know, it's old, but there are some of us that are still using it happily. And I'm seeing so many 2007/2008 only versions of things, that I want to get a hang of this so I can maybe back port some of the other things out there.

Thanx again,

desiv

p.s. I have another project to fix an XSP issue with gngeo, but I haven't been able to get that one to compile yet. ( I mean compile as is, without me messing with the code yet)
