Apologies if this question has already been answered...

Today, I discovered that the Canadian 'CTV' network had recently made available a flash-based web site for viewing popular TV show episodes shown on its network e.g. Lost. This is great, since all the US network websites block Canadians from their own sites for doing the same thing

http://watch.ctv.ca/

In order for this to work on my laptop, I found out that I needed to download/install the Adobe flash player -- version 9. Apparently the version I now have is:

LNX 9,0,124,0

Unfortunately, only *some* of the flash content works -- it crashes when actually playing the content that I want -- but this is not the issue...

My N800 also has Flash Player version 9:

LNX 9,0,31,35

When I try the CTV website, I get the message:

"Express install is not supported by this version of the
Flash Player. To upgrade, please visit
Flash Player Download Center"

OK, so can anyone comment on why this is occuring? Is the version of Flash Player on my N800 *slightly* too old, and the website is detecting this, and forcing me to upgrade?

Thanks

Probably not. Some sites attempt to detect things with javascript, and don't even let you try using it if they don't detect the right version (but they give you a nice warning!). I think it's one of the more ******ed things, but I'd guess that's what happens here. Their detection is likely off a little. Try downloading the swf elsewhere and running it on the tablet to see if it actually works.

Flash on the N800 is a bit dated.

I was having allmost the same exact problem. When i tryed acsesing Adobe's photo editing website, i got the same error... I just wish that nokia could release a flash player update deb once in a while so we don't have to wait for a os update just to update the flash player. but with a little hacking, i guess you could manualy update it, but then again, most of the flash players are designed for x86 and not ARM11 so you would probibly need to de-compile and re-compile the flash player in a scrachbox, but then that would probibly be illegal.

Diablo's Flash is upgraded, though. 9,0,48,0 according to Adobe's about page.

Can you please check if this is enough to play videos at http://watch.ctv.ca/?

Last version is 9,0,124,0 so hopefully they didn't make a huge upgrade between the two versions 48 and 124 .

We'll see what comes of my posting to a blog about this site -- it sounds like one of the key people involved is *supportive* of Linux, so that bodes well:

Flashplayer 9,0,124 should have quite many changes against 48. H.264 for example. Check the 9,0,155 Moviestar:
