Can someone offer a little help? I did do a search of the forums -x-loader- and only a few posts showed up and none help

This morning my N800 wouldn't load skype, so I tried restarting the tablet. It wouldn't shutdown. Had to remove the battery. Then it wouldn't startup past the Nokia letters. So, I attempted to reflash.

I keep getting the error message:To flash the bootloader, you have to supply the X-Loader image

Huh?

This is what I get each time

./flasher-3.0 -F RX-34_2007SE_4.2007.38-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

How do I point to the X-Loader image? Where is it?

Thanx in advance

Are you using the Nokia supplied USB cable during flashing, I have seen issues before and now only use my Nokia cable, Perhaps any USB2 cable I am not sure? I had some problems with my n800 when I first bought it using a USB cable I had laying around the house.

Not sure if this is your problem, but it was very similar to mine

Yep, using the USB cable that came with the N800. I'm not using a hub. I am, however, pulling my hair out...I loved this thing till today

could your image be not full, or corrupt. Can you extract it using the flasher, if that works, then you know the image is good.

You could then try flashing the xloader separetly by itself and see what happens.

You could try from Windows flasher if that is an option? Sometimes I have seen that work when linux flasher would not.

Thanx for the help. Windows isn't an option, I only have Linux and OSX available.

md5sums for flasher and the image are spot on.

Will try your suggestion of extracting xloader and flashing seperately.

Nokia says send it to Huntsville, but it really feels like a software prob not a hw prob.

Thanx again , will give your suggestion a try and also see if I can hunt down a window box to use.

Well, I've dblckd the md5sums and extracted the .bin. Flasher didn't want to flash just the xloader. Passed the path for each part of the .bin to flasher and get this

[root@localhost Desktop]# ./flasher-3.0 -k /home/ruby/Desktop/zImage -n initfs.jffs2 -r rootfs.jffs2 -x xloader.bin-RX-34\:1301\,1302\,1501\,1502\,1503\,1504\,1601\,1602 -s 2nd.bin-RX-34\:1301\,1302\,1501\,1502\,1503\,1504\,1601\,1602 -f -Rflasher v0.8.7 (Oct 17 2006)

NOLO version 1.1.6
Version of 'sw-release': <no version>

I have the exact same problem. Did you get any help for this issue?

I just got the same damn error trying to reflash. I googled the error and found this:

http://dev.openbossa.org/trac/mamona...erBrokenDevice

Doesn't help me much though.

I am really not liking this thing. I may as well be back to running RH 6.0!

./flasher-3.0 -f -F <your image name here>
This is exactly what I did. Tried with two different images.

sudo ./flasher-3.0.amd64 -F RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-18_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

To flash the bootloader, you have to supply the X-Loader image

Note the top line:
SW version in image: RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-18_PR_MR0

And the second to last line:
Version of 'sw-release': RX-44_2008SE_2.2007.51-3_PR_MR0

Is there a problem here with the version number??
1.2007.42-18...
2.2007.51-3...
I don't get it?
Am I getting the right image??
