I tried to install gcompris to test it with my 6yr old daughter but find that, despite I can install additional packages like italian sounds or music (packages gcompris-sound-all, gcompris-sppund-it, gcompris-sond-music already all installed without problems), the main package (gcompris) fails to install because of "missing ogg support".

I already tried to install mogg but get the same error (still not rebooted the tablet, tough).

Any advice?

Thanks, as usual

The matter was that I installed mogg! That package was conflicting with ogg-support which I found on http://ogg.garage.maemo.org/

Afterwards, gcompris installed without problems, but it seems to crash quite often. Now we're close to OS2008 so I won't do any further try, given this thread (post #4).

I thought I'd resurrect this thread as I had a similar problem.
Gcompris installation would fail without reporting why (no I don't know how to look up error reports). Turns out it was the lack of OGG support. I installed OGG from here. and then was able to install Gcompris without a problem.

A lot of other apps use the OGG and include it in their download, so many users won't notice this dependency unless they try to install Gcompris as one of the first things like I did, or install a conflicting package like max did. ( I actually went looking for the OGG download and installed Quake instead, when I made it back to OGG it was already installed.

So here we go with another resurrection I'm also trying to install gcompris with little success so far. I was getting the missing ogg support error but got past it thanks to TheGogmagog's previous post (thanks), but now I get an error complaining about not enough space. I deleted a hole bunch of stuff & now have 35mb free on root (& that's with leaving gcompris sound support already installed). Will I be able to install this somehow without having to clone to an external card (something I've been purposely avoiding)? TX

In case anyone else stumbles on this, I was able to install gcompris from a fresh flash of the latest diablo. FWIW.
