Would it be feasible to port Scribes (http://scribes.sourceforge.net/) to Maemo?
Unfortunaly I have no Python knowledge...

Have you tried running it directly? (It is Python, after all).

I've seen that almost work with Emesene, for example

...Oh, and Yay another Scribes user! Scribes + Nautilus in spatial mode + Epiphany with tabs disabled and LOTS of workspaces is my favourite desktop.

Why would it be to slower than eg. PyGtktexteditor?
Btw. I'm not a Scribes user. The N810, I bought some weeks before, is my
first "Linux machine" since years.
I'd like to have an editor that features:
Syntax highlighting
No visible menu, toolbar or tabs
I think some Autotext/Snippets function would be usefull to safe some typing

It s slower than pygtkeditor.

PyGTKEditor and Scribes use the same syntax parser (gtksourceview) ... but scribes implement more features which is great, but slow down a bit it.
