Why, oh why, do I need to have 5 different user names for 3 different parts of maemo.org? (I'm exaggerating, of course).

I'm trying to get a hold of the Webcam Viewer developer, (jussivat), and of course, talk.maemo.org doesn't seem to have him listed as a user. I have to create a (most likely) one time use account just to get a hold of the man, on garage.maemo.org

I understand the need to create another user name if the two weren't ran by the same people, but come on! Is it REALLY that hard to merge the sql user databases for talk.maemo and garage.maemo?

And developers wonder why more people don't vote on their applications or why they don't get more user feedback...

Now I know, creating a user account is not hard. Even my 5 brain cells can cope with that task. Hell, I could have created 10 accounts in the time it took me to post this, but that's besides the point. One community, one username per user, not 5 usernames (albeit they can all be the same). Admins, merging sql databases isn't hard.

Maybe I'm missing the ******ed reason for having multiple accounts on talk.maemo.org. I just don't see it.

/Rant off

There's currently 3 account systems for maemo.org. Introducing a single-sign-on system was delayed until the server migration (which happened early this year I think), since which there's been the whole MeeGo issue which seems to have somewhat taken priority.

It's a known problem. Perhaps the Meego effort will give the infrastructure people a clean slate to start from.
