im a bit confused.... i thought n900 comes unlocked right from the store... im in italy soo i bought it here.... put a sim in one fron "TIM"... and it doesnt recognize it...
sooo i wanted to see what u guys think... or i need to update some?-- or configure some parameters
i bought yesterday soo sorry 4 my noobishness :P

It should be unlocked, yes (at least, I've not heard of anyone getting a locked one). Make sure the SIM is in the right way round and that the SIM holder is closed properly. Some people have had issues with older SIMs (which required higher voltages), so if it's several years old, you may need to get a replacement.

no i dont think.... ill try to put it tight.. cause the sim is just new too ... hope it works... ill keep u updated thank u... !

no... it wont work... either, i will try with another sim later...(from another company)... later... but i made sure it was really tight!! .. and didnt work

Just to double-check - you need to slide the SIM holder to unclip it and open it up. The SIM then needs to be put into the SIM holder (it should be held in place by the metal framework), and the holder folded flat again and slid back to the locked position.

If you've done all that and the SIM is not recognised, then it sounds like a faulty device - take it back and get it replaced.

i took it to the store... and indeed the device was not workin properly.. . soo they will replace it
