So how does this work? I just bought an N810 off of ebay and all that came with it was the unit itself, 1 stylus, the battery inside the unit and the wall power charging adapter; nothing else. Whoever the guy was, he'd set it up with 2 separate boot-able partitions, each with it's own desktop and no ability to access the other or any programs installed on the other. The one listed on the start-up menu listed as 'flash' was the one I was using, but it suddenly started crashing and restarting the system as soon as it finished starting up. I want to erase everything on the whole unit and start over from scratch; is there a simple way to do this and will I have to get the USB cord needed for the unit? Can this be done off of a Windows 7 system?

You can use any standard micro-usb cable, there is nothing special about the one in the box.
Go here and download the software update wizard https://www.nokiausa.com/A4686323 and follow the instructions to reflash your device.
Once flashed, as above in control panel, memory, make sure virtual memory is turned off, and then format the internal card.
Your N810 will then be honeymoon fresh again.
Once there, when the first thing I would suggest is to install the community SSU before anything else.
then this posting has some useful goodies which are worth installing http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=52124

Ok, so basically there's nothing I can do without the mcroUSB cable? I've been having a pain of a time trying to find one locally, cheapest I found was $20. Guess I'll have to just get one. Thanks for the rest of the info, it's a huge help! This will clean out the dual boot clone as well?

Yup, you don't get anything on the initial Nokia screen other than the Nokia logo do you. Like funny text, or a little image of a 770 tablet?
