GNOME Nettool is a network information tool which provides user interfaces for some of the most common command line network tools including:
  • ifconfig
  • ping
  • netstat
  • traceroute
  • port scanning
  • DNS lookup
  • finger
  • whois
Started on this a long time ago, but it had some missing deps and it had an awful UI, but it's usable (with a stylus) now (and it actually works).
Not a lot of changes to the source but I had to 'replace' some tools that are part of busybox. The package is completely safe to install.
Had to package the following, if anyone is going to use them: whois, finger, netstat and ping.
The package replace the symlinks to busybox, in order to provide working ones, the symlinks will be restored on uninstallation.
Traceroute does not currently work, even though it's packaged, I'll look into it soon.

Hope some of you find this useful

Could you post a screenshot of the UI you get? Could be a missing theme.

Like that?
I guess it's the missing theme files... I keep forgetting about those
Easiest solution is to install easy-deb-chroot, I'll ask qole if he could package the theme separately for other packages to use it.

I can package the theme right now, I already use it in xarchiver's package.
Packaging separately though would mean annoying who wants to install it will have conflicts with easy-deb-chroot, which is maintained by qole.
easy-deb-chroot is Easy Debian, it allows you to run a full chroot'd image of Debian without rebooting your device, thus allowing all applications on debian (arm) to run on the N900.
