Did you installed/removed any apps? bookmarks? communication? depending on these items backup size varies still I dont think you need to worry if you restore it will work just fine unless you're getting any errors during the process or you're running power kernel

i do not know if this is really a problem but somewhat concerns me,
for my latest back-up, the file was a total of 50mb.
last 2 days, i reformat my SDcard, and perform another back-up of my n900, to the SDcard, and a whopping 22mb is what came out.
i tried re-doing the back-up on the mass storage and still same results.
