Hi All;

I was wondering if it was possible to install OpenSSH on the N900 from a memory card (or other method without having to connect the phone to the internet)?

If so I would greatly appreciate any pointers on how to do this.

Thanks

Excellent, Thanks for the quick reply.

When I get the files on the memory card, how do I go about installing ssh on the phone. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I’m new to linux and dont want to do any damage.

Thanks

Code:
cd /media/mmc1/folderofthefiles/
sudo gainroot
dpkg -i name of the package.deb
and with root, standard precautions

Thanks again for your help Ossipena, I am nearly there. Does anyone know of a way of installing rootsh without an internet connection? Or another way of getting root access to allow me to install OpenSSH (again without internet connection)

Thanks

You don't need rootsh to install .debs if you've got PR1.2 installed - just open the .deb file from File Manager & it should call App Manager & install it. If you do want rootsh anyway, you'll need to download the .deb file separately and then install it via File Manager (as above).
