Can I stop the update of certain apps? It is much easier to click "Update All" then have to update 5 and just leave out one. I prefer the older version of some applications. I did a search but all that came up was how to disable auto-update.

edit (or create) as root
/etc/apt/preferences

use the following as an example
Code:
package: touchsearch
Pin: version 2.2-2
Pin-Priority: 1001
(leave pin-priority as is, edit package name and pin - you can have several of these three line combos in the same file, separated by a white line - package will remain at the specified version - works for me)

Installing Fapman gives a gui based method of blacklisting updates. Might not be as preemptive as you may wish, but take a look at it. Much faster than the default app man.
