I wanted to delete my music fast so I connected my N900 to the computer and went into Music folder and deleted all my music. But when I go into media player all the albums and songs are still listed despite the fact that there is no media linking to them. I've tried to delete them and so far I've only managed to delete one album out of a hundred.

I have done a google search and I've read about these trackers and codes but I don't even know if that is the right solution to my problem. Anyway I don't even know where to put a tracker or code into my N900.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

you can clear the tracker db, open a terminal and enter following commands:

cd .cache/tracker
rm -f *.db

this one worked for me:
open Xterminal:
tracker-processes --hard-reset(hit enter and wait for little while)
then type:
/etc/osso-af-init/tracker.sh start(hit enter and media player starts to find your files)

Thx for the tips but I tried them but it keeps saying tracker not found

Which one did you try? One after the other?
Please do not describe the output, because the error messages give hints about possible errors. Please paste the full output.

I tried this one first

cd .cache/tracker
-sh: cd.cache/tracker: not found
rm -f *.db
-sh: rm -f *.db: not found

It didn't work so I did this one next.

tracker-processes --hard-reset
sh: tracker-processes --hard-reset: not found
/etc/osso-af-init/tracker.sh start
Starting Tracker...Initializing trackerd...failed!

there should be a space between cd and .cache/tracker.
Are you doing this as user or as root? Copy and paste things please, because there are lots of information hidden in the output of the terminal.
Here is a typical output of this commands

i would not recommend starting the tracker process manually after the successful execution of the reset, let the phone do it by itself after acouple of minutes or, if impatient, reboot the phone.
