Can anyone help me..

When my n900 boots up it appears to be in read-only mode mode as new text messages and emails wont save and the desktop is in weird colours..
If I run fsck from the backupmenu is says /dev/mmcblk02p2: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY

If I try to do a backup with backupmenu it says that root cant be mounted

Is there another way of fsck /dev/mmcblk02p2 or is the only way to get this working again is to reflash? If that is the case is there any way of manually backing everything up such a conversations and phonebook...

Well I faced similar issue recently and had to reflash (the partition got corrupted while I was playing with Transmission app). I had backedup my Coversations and Phonebook using Ovi Suite and other data by connecting my n900 to my PC in Mass Storage mode. Wait to see if anybody else can provide you with a solution without reflash, else....... that's the only way to go..........

well you can run fsck manually but its dangerous as opt is always mounted and can't be umounted

to run fsck on opt

root
fsck -a /dev/mmcblk0p2

it will show warning like the partion in mounted and can cause severe damage to filesystem
press y if u ready to try

Thanks n900ak and raaj13. I will try to make a backup first before I try fsck manually.

Backupmenu (option w) can let you mount your optfs from another device via usb; from there you can fsck it or format it without need to reflash emmc. I have done it several times.

Hi debernadis,
I think that is only for the MyDocs partition as fsck comes back clean with this.

debernadis did not ask you to fsck from the device, but from a PC.
He did suggest to you to export the partitions read/write from multiboot boot screen (you need to install it and settings for your kernel as well, also boot with keyboard slid out) to an external PC running some Linux- or Gparted-Live-CD. You might check optfs file system in any terminal application or gparted from the PC.

Ah, I missed /dev/sdb2 out of the list. Thanks debernadis

The partition is now sorted.
However, I think its going to have to reflash the phone. It keeps rebooting randomly after about 2 minutes.
