After syncing N900 and Outlook 2007 via Nokia Suite, certain Task and Calendar items in Outlook may lose their formatting (in the large "notes" field at the bottom part of the form). It can be quite annoying if the format is important. I haven't been able to find any pattern as to how this happens (it doesn't occur always, and not to all items).

Is there any way to fix or at least revert this?

It's like it's 1997 again and I'm using a first generation H/PC running Windows CE 1.0 (syncing those devices with Outlook could also produce unpredictable results sometimes).

Might be necessary to ask Nokia support, what they think about Nokia suite. They also run forums over there http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Maem...ces/bd-p/maemo

But may be someone has another idea here.

Still waiting for a reply from Nokia. I also noticed it breaks some other things in the field ("special" characters or maybe a sequence of letters). For now it seems as though sync is something that's stuck in 1997-1998. :S

My best bet for a workaround would be asymmetric sync (i.e. to only push data from Outlook to N900 on request, and not vice versa). Is something like that possible?

How can a "clean slate" sync be done between N900 and Outlook?

Namely, I also tested Nokia PC Suite (in addition to previous Nokia Suite sync), which made quiet a mess with some contacts and appointments (duplicates or near-duplicates). I managed to clean the situation in Outlook, and I don't want to go through this time-consuming experience again. Is there a way to reset sync status somehow (I guess if I just delete everything in N900, the next sync will delete everything in Outlook. And I know now that I should never mix Nokia Suite and Nokia PC Suite again...)?

Maybe I should look into other one-way options, such as exporting to a file in Outlook, and importing in N900.

Final "talking to myself" reply (in case someone else will also need this): It turned out "Nokia PC Suite" (as opposed to "Nokia Suite") actually supports one-way "sync". You can choose whether to have a normal two-way sync, or whether it should go in Outlook>>N900 direction, or vice versa. As I hadn't changed anything on N900 beforehand, one-way Outlook>>N900 sync resolved everything. Also, the application will ask you, even in such one-way case, whether you want items (that are not in Outlook) to be deleted from N900. Great.
