One of the Woot 8000, trying to come in from the cold.

I'm trying to tether my 770 to a Samsung SGH-D407 phone with Cingular/ATT service. I'm using:
AP Name: wap.cingular
DUN: *99#
User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
PW: CINGULAR1

Also tried the other variants of the above found by google. No luck. But tethering to my PC (XP Pro x86) I got it to work in 30 seconds.

I don't fully understand this tethering. I don't see why, if I can connect to the ATT server with the Samsung and PC, why not the Samsung and 770 with the same parameters?

Anyway if anybody has some insight into this I'll try it. I have xterm and gainroot installed and am not afraid to use the CLI should that be necessary.

Puzzled,
Buggsy

Those are the settings I'm using with my Treo 750 (Cingular) and it does work. I have found that if on occasion it doesn't connect, I can soft-reset my phone and get it to connect the next time.

Also, on my phone it was necessary to configure it as discoverable so the 770 could find it.
