Hi everyone i needadvice choosing the right next phone at the moment i am a community N900 user which i love but its slowing down internet browser keeps crashing! phone reboots kernel playing up camera freezing up etc but this phone still amazes me and i like it as it does most of the things i need from a device only if it was a bit faster smoother and stable with better battery life i would keep using it for longer! I love open source, community, qwerty keybaord (not essential), FM Transmitter, large memory! My upgrade is coming soon so i will be getting a new phone still gonna keep my n900 as i still adore it! but so far i like Nokia N9, Samsung Galaxy S II, what do you suggest? White or Black? What do you suggest?

BZZT! Shameful display! That device has a locked bootloader!

OP: if you like the SGS2, get it now. It'll be supported by XDA for years to come, and with it's extreme specs, it will run future Android versions for years to come.
That's if you can deal with not having a keyboard.

If you need a keyboard, you're relegated to getting a Desire Z. Which at the moment, is pretty old, but is still getting updates from XDA because the Droid series is locked down.

if you going for samsung, take a look at the Galaxy note. other than that go for n9, but the browser experiance is 10 times better on the gnote. I had both n9 and Sgsll before but sold them. But i missed the n9 so I had to buy another one. N9 is much more fun, but dont have the speed of the galaxys.

Sound like your N900 just needs some TLC.
Reflash?

go for a galaxy nexus if you can get it,

ive ended up using my n9 more since as a phone i like its simplicity, but honestly the nexus is a better all round device.

great hardware, unmatched screen(4.6inch amoled 1280x720) fits nice in hand, great battery life, the only thing that is bad on that phone is the camera(pics are average, video is awesome)

not to mention its a nexus, so you can root easily and tinker all you'd like

if you're going through an operator and dont have the galaxy nexus then galaxy2 would be the next choice, if you can hold out a few months(april/may) then the galaxy 3 should be out

I've been very interested in Galaxy Note right now.

It has a huge screen great work movies 800 x 1280 pixels, 5.3 inches.
32GB internal Memory.
8MP Camera greap for photos and video recording and 2 MP from excelent for video chat.
It has Pen stylus which i love in my n900.
Image/video editor is really nice and simple to use a lot better than many many phones.
It will get the new ICS Android 4.0 OS soon which will make it even better.

You can also take a look at the video

Personally, there's nothing in the UK market to even tempt me right now, +1 to reflash the N900, KP49, CSSU, Opera Mobile, Scud battery from China, and an external USB power brick if that's still not sufficient. When your contract's up, why not take the opportunity to go SIM only and get your monthly cost down; use the difference to accessorise the N900 or buy in a MiFi dongle for HSPA+ connectivity.

Just a thought. Personally, I'll buy a replacement for the N900 at such time as one is available, but anything in the current market would be a downgrade.
