Here's the scenario:

I have a web server running on a bluetooth-capable laptop. In the past, we had been using an HP iPAQ PDA that was able to connect as a PAN device and hit the local website via the built in web browser. The only problem was the web browser was not fully functional, so there were certain parts of the web site that didn't show up (eg. a browse button).

So, I saw that the 770's were on sale for around $120 and decided to pick one up. Now my problem is that I cannot get the 770 to comply with Bluetooth PAN service. My 770 is still running the OS 2006 (not in r/d mode)

I looked at the wiki for bluetooth/pan howtos. I also found a PAN tutorial on this forum which got me pretty far. I gained root access to the 770 and created the 'btup' and 'btdn' scripts. When I run 'btup', my laptop prompts for the passkey, I enter '1234', then the 770 prompts for a passkey, which I enter '1234'. The only problem is that the 770 still fails to create the 'bnep0' interface. The 770 sees the laptop as a 'Phone', and creates a standard pairing, and NOT PAN.

Has anyone else tried using a WinXP box with BT as a network gateway for the 770 (PAN)?
