Hello all, this is my first post!

I really must say I hoped something better for a PDA made by Nokia. Ok, it has bluetooth and wifi, and an enormous screen, but the software itself is a damned ***t. Opera pretends to crash even when visiting my fotolog, no java, nothing else. But well, it plays shoutcast. I must admitt that my good old gp2x had a better software than this. Even if I love linux, and embedded devices, Nokia should have putted some effort on doing things right and don't expect "community will fix all my problems"

There's, however, something that makes me think I'm likely to have a broken 770 soon. The display jitters. I mean, when I dim the backlight, I start hearing a little (at a very low volume) electric sound comming from the upper right corner of the screen. It always happens, and I was wondering... does it happen the same to anyone else? I'm a bit affraid about this, since I bought it on eBay, and from the UK, so I have no warranty, neither official or unofficial...

I had 5 different 770s in hand and yes the humming is there. Some are a bit more loud than others but none is silent and the difference is not big. The only way how to make it silent is to set brightness to maximum. I'd guess it is design fault/feature. Some PalmOS PDAs have noisy screens too. N800 is silent.

Also on lowest brightness screen sometimes blinks. More when on charger or when wi-fi is enabled. Again all units I've seen do it, some more some less. My N800 does it too.

Now there's a statement that's sure to generate all kinds of helpful suggestions..... You might also want to alter your definition of the 770 - it's not a PDA : )

Don't be afraid though, I've used three different 770's and they all buzz a bit.
